describe how the information might have bias, propaganda, misinformation, and how members of your chosen profession may misinterpret or misuse the information
Module 3
In Module 3, you will be required to use the news websites again. Therefore, you will want to review how to properly cite and reference new sources as we did in Module 2. Make sure you are using the same writing style throughout the course. Whatever style you used in Modules 1 and 2 will need to be continued. Remember, the Start Here Module’s Module Resource Citation and Reference Examples guide shows how to cite and reference news sources (see under Module 2 heading of the Module Resource Citation and Reference Examples guide). You will want to review my feedback to your Module 2 work as well. 😉
For Module 3:
You will write one paragraph describing “your rationale for members of your chosen profession to have information literacy skills including the skills and abilities to recognize bias, propaganda, and others’ misinterpretation and reporting of information. Cite and reference one of the required media videos from this module to support your claims.”
You will use one of the module’s news websites to locate an article for your second paragraph. You can be specific in finding an article that describes why the chosen profession needs to evaluate information. Or, you can find an article and describe how it might have bias, propaganda, be misinterpreted, or be misreporting information.
In your second paragraph, you will “describe how the information might have bias, propaganda, misinformation, and how members of your chosen profession may misinterpret or misuse the information.” Provide an example from the article and “be sure to cite and reference the news resource to support your claims.”
Remember to:
Keep your writing focused and concise by using the MEAL Plan system.
Use third person.
Properly cite and reference the required supporting resources. The Start Here Module’s Module Resource Citation and Reference Examples can serve as a guide. If you use Word’s citation/reference tools, be aware that it is seldom correct. You will want to double-check your work. 😉
Use feedback from your Module 1 and 2 discussions to help you prevent future errors.
Reviewing the Module 3 content. Next, locate a news resource about your chosen profession using one of the following news websites:
NBC News http://www.nbcnews.com/
FOX News http://www.foxnews.com/
NPR News http://www.npr.org/
*It does not matter which of these news sources you use, but you are NOT allowed to use other sources for this assignment.
