access before May 12′. This archive does not need to be relevant to your
specific research. Request a specific time to visit, and request help locating
finding aids for the collections.
Ask the archivist who provides the funding and materials for this archive (or use
the archives/ special collections website to find this info).
Browse the finding aids to find an interesting collection or ask the archivist to
suggest a specific collection for you to request.
Follow all of the archivist’s instructions for entering the archive and taking notes.
Either in advance or at the archive, submit a request for one box of documents
from that collection. Then browse the folders and documents within that box.
Tour the archives room/ building and ask or observe which parts of the collection
are most popular.

you requested at the archive.

your field of study. You can identify this archive using a scholarly book from your
other assignments. This second archive does not need to be nearby, and you are
not required to visit it.
